What clients say

Maya never rushed me. For the first time, therapy felt like my body was allowed to set the pace — and that's exactly why it worked.

EMDR client

After years of being the strong one for everyone else, I finally had a place where I didn't have to hold it all together.

Client, caregiver

I was skeptical about EMDR. Six months later, memories that used to flatten me are just… memories.

My story

About me

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in trauma, complex PTSD, and the long aftermath of caregiving roles. I'm certified in EMDR and trained in Somatic Experiencing — much of our work happens in the body, not just the story.

I work primarily with women in their 30s–50s who are navigating the aftermath of childhood trauma, medical trauma, or the slow attrition of being the strong one for everyone else. I see clients in Austin and via telehealth across Texas.

The process

What to expect

We'll spend the first 2–3 sessions getting to know each other and building a foundation of safety before any active trauma work begins. I'll share how I work, learn your history at whatever pace feels right, and teach you nervous system regulation tools you can use between sessions. When we move into EMDR or somatic work, we go slowly and always at the pace your body can integrate — there's no rushing. Ongoing sessions are typically 50–60 minutes and shift as you build more capacity and stability. Many clients notice meaningful change within a few months; others work with me longer for deeper layers of healing.

How I can help

Areas of focus

01

Trauma + PTSD

I work with trauma that doesn't always look like 'trauma' — chronic medical stress, the slow erosion of caregiving, the years-later return of childhood pain. We move at the pace of your nervous system, never faster.

02

EMDR

EMDR is an evidence-based protocol that helps the brain reprocess stuck memories. I'm EMDRIA-certified and integrate it gently with somatic and relational work.

03

Caregiver burnout

Being the strong one for everyone takes a real, measurable toll. We'll attend to what your body has been carrying and rebuild a self that has room for needs of its own.

04

Grief

Grief is rarely linear and rarely about one loss. I make space for the layered, ambiguous, and 'shouldn't-still-be-here' griefs — alongside the obvious ones.

Services offered

EMDR therapy

60 minutesIn person + telehealth

Targeted reprocessing for single-event or complex trauma. Using bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps the brain update stuck memories so they no longer carry the same emotional charge. I'm EMDRIA-certified and integrate this gently with somatic awareness, moving only as fast as your nervous system can integrate.

Somatic therapy

50 minutesIn person + telehealth

Body-based regulation work for chronic stress and caregiver burnout. We work with how stress lives in the body — tension, shutdown, hypervigilance — not just in the story you tell about it. This approach is especially helpful when talk therapy alone hasn't been enough.

Trauma intensives

3 hoursIn person

Half-day focused EMDR sessions for clients ready to go deeper. Intensives allow us to move further in a single container than weekly therapy often permits, without the week-to-week interruption of integration. Best suited for clients who have built some nervous system capacity and are ready for sustained focused work.

Practices & reading

Resources

A small library of grounding, breathing, and reflection practices you can return to any time. None of these replace working with Maya — they're meant to support you between sessions.

These practices are just the beginning.

In our work together we can build a personalized toolkit for your specific patterns and challenges.
