A glimpse of Jake Oliver's practice

About

Therapy can be a space to exhale.

Jake Oliver knows what it looks like when someone has everything together on the outside and feels quietly lost on the inside. They work with high-achieving individuals and couples in their 20s and 30s who are tired of performing—for their partners, their colleagues, their families, and sometimes even themselves. The success is real, but so is the exhaustion that comes with constantly managing how you appear to everyone around you.

With nearly 10 years of clinical and therapeutic experience, Jake brings a style that is warm and direct in equal measure. They ask honest questions, say the things that are hard to say, and stay genuinely invested in what happens for you beyond the therapy room. This is not a place where you will be met with detached nodding. You will be met with someone who actually cares about where you end up.

Clients who work with Jake often describe a shift that moves through more than just their mood. Relationships change. The way they move through work changes. The constant performance starts to loosen, and something more grounded takes its place. That kind of change does not happen from insight alone—it happens from doing real work with someone you trust.

If you are ready to stop running on empty and start building something that actually fits who you are, I would be glad to talk.

My approach

My work is built around one observation: a lot of high-achieving people are exhausted by their own lives. The career is real, the relationships are real — and so is the quiet sense that you’ve been managing how you appear to everyone around you for a very long time. I work with individuals and couples in their 20s and 30s who are ready to stop performing and start building something that actually fits.

Services

Support for the complicated parts.

Anxiety

For high-achievers, anxiety often doesn’t look like panic — it looks like overpreparation, difficulty switching off, and a persistent sense that something is about to go wrong. We work on understanding what’s driving the vigilance, not just managing the symptoms.

Depression

Depression in high-functioning people is easy to miss because life still looks fine from the outside. We slow down, look at what’s actually happening beneath the performance, and build toward something that feels real — not just functional.

Trauma & PTSD

Unprocessed experiences have a way of showing up in unexpected places — in how you react under pressure, how close you let people get, how safe you feel in your own life. We work at a pace that feels grounded, not rushed.

Career & Life Transitions

When the thing you worked toward doesn’t feel the way you expected, that’s worth taking seriously. Whether you’re changing direction, moving up, or just questioning what you’re doing and why — this is a good place to think it through.

Relationship Issues

A lot of relationship patterns start making sense once you understand where they came from. We look at what’s happening between you and the people who matter most, and work toward something more honest and less exhausting.

Stress Management

Chronic stress isn’t just about having too much to do — it’s often about how much you’ve been carrying without acknowledging it. We work on building a relationship with pressure that doesn’t require you to white-knuckle through everything.

What to expect

A clear first step.

What to expect as we begin working together.

The first session is a conversation, not an intake form.

We’ll spend time getting to know each other and talking through what’s bringing you in — what’s been happening, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re hoping might be different. I’ll ask questions, and you should feel free to ask them too.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before we meet. A lot of people come in knowing something isn’t working but not yet knowing what to call it. That’s fine. We’ll figure it out together.

By the end of the first session, you’ll have a clearer sense of how I work and whether it feels like a fit. There’s no pressure to commit to anything on the spot.
